The second big step to launching your online course, is that you have got to understand who your perfect student is, client, customer. I like to call my clients, my students because they're learning. But understanding who that perfect student or client is, is really important. We know that in our marketing that we have to understand the demographics. We have to know their income level. We need to know whether they're middle aged and elderly, young. We need to know whether they're married, they've got children. We need to know all of that information as we're putting together that picture of our typical client. But for me, there was one extra step. I need to understand their mindset. I needed to understand whether or not they were engaged with what I do. That they understood that I had a solution to their problem.
The second big idea is to understand the problem and that your customer or your student has got and really understand it, but also to be able to understand their pain points. And for me, those are two quite different things. And to give you an example, and there might be people that know they've got a business, they know that they're overwhelmed because they've got too much going on and they know that the problem they've got is they're not delegating. But the pain is the fact that they might have delegated before and it did not work out. They brought in some additional staff and the staff did not work out. That is their pain. So, trying to help people with both the problem and the pain with your solution is really important. The third big thing is to understand that it is not necessarily just about you creating something that people need. It is about creating something that people want.
